Jemima Rose Dean
Heaux and Harvest

This research began as a physical movement exploration of two forms of manual labour. A study of the repetitive, cyclical gestures of farm work in comparison with the performative, blue-collar field of stripping. But the project evolved as the research uncovered questions about the hidden emotional labour underlying both of these physical occupations. Employing the skills of high heels and pole dance, this artistic research presentation will attempt to narrate how the process is currently unfolding.
Jemima is a West Australian artist who has been based in Germany since 2010. After many years working as ballet dancer she is now an independent artist creating original works and collaborations. She is currently focusing her Master's research on the skills of high heels and pole dancing. www.jemimarosedean.com
