Bodies of Knowledge: Choreographies of Care - a gathering as part of Claire Cunningham’s Einstein Strategic Professorship at HZT Berlin
with HAU Hebbel am Ufer & HZT Berlin
at HAU Hebbel am Ufer (HAU2) Hallesches Ufer 34, 10963 Berlin
*** 10-12 October 2025 *** PLEASE SAVE THE DATE ***
Following the premiere of Claire Cunningham’s Songs of the Wayfarer in 2024 as part of her artistic research as Einstein Professor of Choreography, Dance and Disability Arts at HZT Berlin (Inter-University Dance Centre Berlin), we are pleased to announce this new gathering with HZT Berlin & HAU Hebbel am Ufer.
This is the first of two planned gatherings between 2025 and 2028 intended as alternative formats to traditional symposia. Each gathering will bring together artists and experts from different fields, connected to Claire Cunningham’s artistic research at HZT Berlin. This time with Angela Alves, Chiara Bersani, Márcio Kerber Canabarro, Sindri Runudde, Claire Cunningham, Jeanne Eschert, Raquel Meseguer Zafe, Jamie McCarthy, and Aby Watson.
The first focusses On Crip Technique, Knowledge and Expertise and is underpinned by thinking from The Choreography of Care with tanzhaus nrw düsseldorf in 2021.
Spread softly over three days of artistic encounters; active rest and reflection; exchange and conversation, this gathering seeks to make space for artists, thinkers, students, artsworkers, allies and activists who are invested in processes of change and transformation - towards accessible, anti-ableist, crip positive futures in choreography and dance education – to come together at HAU2.
An overview schedule will be announced in May.
Please mark these dates in your diary for now, we would love for you to join us.
