Secretly Bound

In his solo piece, Konstantin takes the audience on a personal journey through East Berlin. As he dances, he embodies a wide variety of characters: a grumbling East German (Ossi), his dog, or an aunt – and then there’s also a stone.

The question of whether we are free or not may seem trivial, yet “Secretly Bound“ explores the superficial ways we sometimes interact with those around us, in Berlin and far beyond. Through self-irony and the playful use of stereotypes, Konstantin Wloch searches for a new language to speak about the political climate in (East) Germany – maybe one shaped by empathy and humor. At the same time, this solo performance holds up a mirror, revealing what happens when we see only our own fears in others, rather than the people themselves.

Konstantin Wloch is a performance artist from Berlin. His work moves between dance and physical theatre, exploring the intersections of humour, embodiment and everyday life. He lived in Prague for a short time, where he presented his work at venues including Punktum Krásovka. Konstantin is also a member of the Berlin-based performance collective Geile Zeit Studios.
