Coco Luna Watts

au clair de lune

Amidst a misty haze, lies a bathtub. What exactly is inside, we don't know, but something begins to emerge. Fingers creep, water drips from long hair, we hear the rubbing of skin against acrylic.

Coco Luna Watts’ solo work 'au clair de lune' takes us on a visceral journey exploring the relating to femininity, in a performance that transcends linear rationality. The work revisits fragments of childhood innocence, and reflects how these qualities get warped and manipulated through coming of age into womanhood. The question is posed, how to remain soft and use softness as a strength, in a world that demands fighting. Coco Luna begins to unpack the ancient story of the wounded feminine, and searches for a mode of living with this open wound and moving through it. After the cracking open of feminine archetypes, this performance begins sowing its fragments back together, creating a new image. One that captures the complexity of feminine power through the unexpected.
