Elena Polzer
Producer & Managing Clerk
© [Translate to English:] Elena Polzer studied Japanese Studies and Ethnology and translated the writings of Butoh master Hijikata Tatsumi into English before becoming known in Berlin as a freelance producer and co-founder of ehrliche arbeit – freies Kulturbüro. In addition to her work as a producer, she curates, performs, coaches, and consults, focusing primarily on topics such as collectivity, feminism, nonviolent communication, the significance of craftsmanship, textiles, ritual, and magic.
Her textile-based artworks draw inspiration from an eclectic mélange of medieval creatures, Goblincore, Solarpunk/Lunarpunk, current political discourses on gender and care work, as well as an emphasis on reuse and recycling. Currently, she is deeply interested in patching/mending practices, matriarchal systems, and an animistic approach to materials.
Since mid-2025, she has been working at the Inter-University Center for Dance Berlin (HTZT) as a managing clerk and producer.
