Jemima Rose Dean
Working Title
© Valentin BraunThis is a (dance) about a girl named Lucky and the unseen labour behind performance. “Lucky” is her alias when she works on the strip, where blue-collar effort meets neon-light glamour.
What does it mean to move through spaces both intimate and industrial as a dancer? Voices, gestures and rhythms trace the contours of work often left invisible. A dance about labour, identity and what it takes to walk in these shoes.
Jemima is a West Australian artist who has been based in Germany since 2010. After many years working as ballet dancer she is now an independent artist creating original works and collaborations. She is currently focusing her Master's research on the skills of high heels and pole dancing. @jemimarosedean
