between voice and body

a one-week choreographic research
examining audio recordings of Prisoners of War, 1914-18

In the workshop, the maC students responded to material from the ‘Lautarchiv’ at the Humboldt University Berlin, a collection of shellac records made between the German Empire and the Weimar Republic. We questioned how can one approach sensitive sound recordings made in prisoner of war camps in the First World War through choreography.
