Jasna L. Vinovrški works as a performer, choreographer and teacher. She grew up in Zagreb but lives and works abroad since the disintegration of Yugoslavia. At the beginning of the 90ties she studied in Essen, at the Folkwang Universität der Künste. After her graduation, she has been working for 12 years as professional performer for various European dance companies. In 2006 she received the scholarship from Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg and Goethe Institute. The last has supported many of her future tours and residences all over the world. After moving to Berlin in 2008, togeather with her partner Clément Layes, she founded the company Public in Private, where the two artists are until today developing separate choreographic signatures, but in the close artistic support to each other.
In 2012 Jasna gains her MA degree in choreography at the HZT University in Berlin. In her choreographic work she explores shifting of different contexts in order to reflect on political and social issues of today. In her teaching the focus lies on performativity and performing strategies while working with speech and movement. She has been also strongly engaged in creating alternative performance platforms in Berlin, such as “3AM Event”, Montag Modus Klimata and Flutgraben performances.
