Nicola van Straaten
i'm haunting you now

After two years of artistic and theoretical research at the HZT Berlin, the students of the MA Solo/Dance/Authorship will present their final works at the end of the year. During their master's studies, they dealt with questions of solo (performance), collaborative processes and composition within contemporary art practice.
Unpacking the past is always disquietening. An awkward but vengeful spirit invites you to join her uncomfortable seance. This solo performance attempts to amplify the unsettling heritage of settler colonialism and reveal embodied complexities of confronting historical violence.
Nicola van Straaten is a dancer, writer and researcher born in Durban, South Africa. She works with improvisation, archives and collaborative publication projects such as ANY BODY ZINE. Her current areas of research include decolonial theory and using the body to navigate irreconciliation.
