Hope Ginsburg will speak about her recent and upcoming projects at the intersection of meditation, environment and interspecies well-being. Each of her recent works makes a climate-related proposal – from practicing present moment awareness with equanimity as a strategy for coping with climate change in Land Dive Team videos, workshops and performances (2014–present); to the analogy of amphibiousness for cultivating multispecies awareness in Land Dive Team: Amphibious James (2018); and a laboring with communities of hard corals for our shared survival in the collaborative, multichannel video Swirling (2019). |

Even if breathing often happens automatically and unnoticed, it can only happen in intra-action with the world, through intimate relation(s) with other living organisms. In the current phase of their artistic research Breathing With, Miriam Jakob and Jana Unmüßig look at these entanglements as conditions for and emergence of intimacy and tackle the concern of intimacy through the explorations of somatic bodywork that focuses on breathing (Middendorf, Rosen). |

Streams of Breathe, Never Look Back, Explosion
Dear friends* of the HZT,
in the second semester during the pandemic, we are happy to be able to rehearse carefully in the studios despite strict regulations. However, since performances before and encounters with the audience are still not possible, we continue streaming the SODA Lecture Series BREATHE. All lectures are available on demand on our webpage after their first online stream.
Don’t miss the upcoming streams of the final project EXPLOSION by Alica Minar and the Orpheus Festival NEVER LOOK BACK, a cooperation project between students of the HZT and the Berlin University of the Arts. Four works have been created for the Baroque Days 2020 at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden. NEVER LOOK BACK will have its premiere on Saturday, 28th on the opera’s YouTube channel.
On our website you can now also find a documentation of the summer semester: films, texts, pictures and essays by students and staff of the HZT give an insight into teaching and artistic work during a worldwide pandemic. The collected works tell a many-voiced story of resistance, loneliness, care and survival strategies in times of crisis.
With best wishes
the HZT Team

The stream NEVER LOOK BACK brings together four projects on the topicality of the Orpheus myth. Students of the stage design class and the class for time-related media and performance of the UdK Berlin will work together with students of the HZT Berlin on an "Orpheus Festival" for this year's BAROCKTAGE of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden. Originally, the four performances were to be shown on six evenings in the Old Orchestra Rehearsal Hall and in the courtyard of the Intendanzgebäude. Now they will be accompanied by film and will be published for the first time on November 28 at 8 pm on the YouTube channel of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden. |

A dance piece for three dancers in which the humor that arises from the handling of the material, and the interest in the barely controllable physical energy, which arises from anger, unite in a bizarre way and thus create a world of images reminiscent of fairytales. |

Since the summer semester 2020 we are working under extreme conditions in every aspect: we have digital semesters in times of a global crisis of the Covid-19 pandemic, without classroom teaching and with strict hygiene requirements for the few teaching formats that can be implemented in some cases. Without a doubt, these digital semesters are a constant challenge and a test of endurance for every single one of us. But especially in times of crisis, the arts are gaining in importance, taking a prismatic look at a fragile present or providing the tools for activism and change. Here we show some of the works of the digital semesters since March 2020 at HZT Berlin.
